2|42 Community Church is soaring to new heights with the debut of a 2|42 Hot Air Balloon that will be completely handicap accessible. Donated entirely by Duncan Chiropractic, the 2|42 Balloon’s basket makes it easy for anyone in a wheelchair to safely board and participate in a tethered hot air balloon ride.
Upon learning that only a handful of handicap-accessible balloons exist throughout the world, 2|42 set out to discover how they could provide a unique opportunity for community members with disabilities. The church partnered with Phil Glebe, a world champion balloonist, to pilot the balloon during Michigan Challenge Balloonfest, as well as for future flights.
The balloon’s inaugural launch will take place on Friday, June 23rd, weather permitting. 20 pre-selected individuals will participate in the maiden voyage. For more information on the 2|42 Handicap Accessible balloon, call 810.231.0190.
