New Small Groups Term!

New Small Groups Term!

The new school year is almost underway. The Fall is right around the corner. The new term of small groups is about to kick off.

So, the question for you is, “Who are you doing life with?” There are some things in life that just aren’t meant to be done alone.

Don’t try to just take next steps by yourself. We are a 24/7 community – not just an hour on Sunday mornings. If you haven’t tried group life out here at 2|42, this is your opportunity to give it a 12 week test drive. Our new term kicks of on Sunday September 19th. We have a smorgasbord of groups for you to choose from – check ‘em out!

We have 3 types of groups; Life Groups, Discovery Groups & Restore Groups.

Join the Prayer Team!

Join the Prayer Team!

 |  Ann Arbor

Here’s a great way to serve the Ann Arbor campus through prayer. We are looking for new members to join any of our 3 teams:

First is Behind the Scenes, this team (one at a time) goes to a private room during the service and prays for all the different ministry teams, the prayer request, the staff the people the come to church.

Second is the Encounter prayer, these are the people that you see at the back, they are prepared to pray for the people at the end of the services.

Third is Off Campus prayers, this team consists of two different parts, one part is to go and pull the weekly prayer requests and pray daily, the other part is to sign up for Emergency Prayer Alerts VIA text message.  After they sign up for the text message they will receive emergency prayers on their phones and they are asked to pray right then and there.

Expectations for Behind the Scenes & Encounter is one Service per Month. We have openings in all 3 teams. If this sounds interesting email us at prayer@242community.com.

The World Race

The World Race

Andrea Gosselin attends 2|42 and was recently baptized. She is currently participating in The World Race, which is a Christian mission trip that travels to 11 countries in 11 months. Participants live out of a backpack, survive on a limited budget, and find themselves in situations, where faith is the only reality to choose from. In partnering with existing missionaries and ministries, World Racers develop relationships with the “least of these”, and through acts of service, they witness communities and nations transformed all over the world. The team will be caring for orphans, feeding the poor, spending time with girls in the sex trade, while trying to show them a new way of life; planting and building churches; teaching English and HIV/AIDS education, running sports camps, working in the slums, evangelizing and whatever else God may lead them to do.

Andrea said, “this is going to be one of the best, most life changing, challenging, uncomfortable and amazing years of my life.  This will shape who I am.”  She welcomes your prayer and support.  You can follow her journey on her blog.

The Big Give Helps Heal The Sick

The Big Give Helps Heal The Sick

During the Big Give the Love and Respect groups gave $1400.00 to the Faith Medical Clinic, in Pinckney.  This free clinic was founded by Mitch & Laura Goldman. The clinic’s goal is to provide free medical care for people in our community, who do not have insurance.  All the medical professionals who volunteer there are licensed and board certified.

When receiving the financial gift Laura said, “I feel like crying tears of joy.  We work so hard at fund raising events to keep the clinic going, plus the never-ending grant writing. It is so wonderful to receive this kind of donation that is a gift from your group, and from God.  I believe that God is behind this and is at work with the wonderfully generous people within your group. Please thank everyone so much for us. You give me hope and knowledge that God continues to provide.”

Faith Medical Clinic provides internal medicine, family practice, EKG, lab work, sutures, gynecology, physical exams, referrals to a dentist, optician and other specialists.

Many who use their services have lost their jobs or work part-time jobs that don’t offer benefits.  Everyone at the clinic is treated with dignity and respect.  When people leave they have tears in their eyes because they are so grateful that someone cares about them.

Faith Medical Clinic: 133 S. Howell St., in the Putnam Township Annex, Pinckney.  Open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays. Call 734-474-4627.
