Are you interested in dedicating a new addition to your family on OCTOBER 24? We are now providing a dedication class before the event. The Ann Arbor class will be Friday, October 1 from 7 to 8:30 at Neighborhood Church and on Saturday, October 2 from 10 to 11:30 at the 2|42 Training Center in Howell. This class is a great opportunity to learn about what it means to establish a Christ-centered home and meet other parents of young children. Please contact rachel@242community.com by September 24 to register.
The 2|42 homeschoolers are invited to join us for our kick-off event of the school year and connect with other 2|42 homeschoolers!
We’ll be meeting up at the Mill Pond gazebo on Sunday, August 29 at 7:00 pm to enjoy the 2|42 worship band and other live music. We are planning to meet beforehand for a light dinner. Please contact Julie Wallace for final details.
It is almost time for back to school shopping! Each year the kids get their shopping list of needed school supplies that always includes tissues. 2|42 has been asked to collect 2000 small pocket tissue packs, for the LESA backpack giveaway. The Brighton Campus will be collecting new tissue boxes, during the 2 church services on Sunday, August 8th.
The Livingston Educational Service Agency (LESA) will be holding its 9th annual “Backpacks for Kids” project on August 19, 2010. The goal of this project is to provide Livingston County students whose families are experiencing financial difficulties with basic school supplies at no cost.
Last year 1600 Livingston County students received backpacks filled with basic school supplies. This year LESA is hoping to giveaway 2,000 free backpacks. The distribution will be at the location listed below.

If you enjoy having your children in kid’s ministry here at 2|42, we want to share with you a very practical way to express your gratitude to the volunteers who care for your children. Our volunteers like to vacation with their families for the summer – just like you - but we are going to need help. We are asking moms and dads to sign-up to serve a couple of Sundays this summer in either Kidfusion or Weetopia. There will be sign-up sheets in Kidfusion and Weetopia for the next few Sundays. Be sure to stop by before you pick up your kids to figure out a date that works for your family. You may also sign up to serve at either campus by contacting dawn@242community.com (Dawn Awrey Director of Kidfusion) or rachel@242community.com (Rachel Dummitt Director of Weetopia). Thank you!
Our next Baby Dedication is May 9, Mother’s Day during both services at both campuses. Dedications at 2|42 are about introducing your new one to the church family and declaring your intention to raise him or her to love and serve God with their lives. If you are interested in participating, please email rachel@242community.com by May 4 or sign up in Weetopia on Sunday at the registration table.
The Easter Egg Hunts were held on Saturday, March 27, in the communities of both campuses. The morning was brisk, but sunny. 9000 eggs, filled by amazing people in our small groups, were hidden just in time. There were songs sung and Easter stories told. The turn out was great! In Howell, at Voyager Elementary, we estimate there were about 400 people there. We talked with many families that have never visited our church. Many of them took brochures and info cards and expressed interest in checking us out. In Ann Arbor, at Neighborhood Church, there were about 150 people. We have info from our raffle slips from 20 families that do not attend 2|42. Please pray for God to inspire them to check out our community and hopefully, take next steps with God. Thank you so much to all of the volunteers that helped make our Easter Egg Hunts a success!
