Message Series: Killin' It

Killinit2
Our greatest enemy lives within ourselves. There’s something inside each of us that keeps us from apologizing, admitting we’re wrong, or showing weakness. It keeps us from forgiving. It causes us to lie about our pasts, to cheat instead of lose, and to feel happy when someone else fails. It stands in the way not only of our relationships with other people, but our relationship with God.
In this three week series we expose a sin that leads to all other sin. Instead of living with the consequences of pride we are a figuring out how to kill it. This will change your life.

Message #2: Killin’ It – Identifying it

So, really … what’s the big deal with pride?  There are three fundamental problems with pride that have devastating consequences:

  • it’s the sin that leads to all others
  • it isolates us from people we love
  • it crowds out God

Learn how to identify pride in almost every area of life.

Message # 2: Killin’ It – Feeding Humility

This week we’ll be focusing on humility.  If we are to kill pride in our lives, what will fill the void?  And make no mistake, killing pride will leave a void that pride itself will aggressively seek to re-enter! In week 2 we define humility. Its not hard to admit you have a pride problem, taking that first humble step is where it gets difficult.

Killin’ It Week #3 – Ebracing weakness

Pride is most evident when our weaknesses are exposed. We wrap up Killin’ It with a completely different approach to our shortcomings. Instead of hiding our weakness and accentuating our strengths, brag about your weakness so that people will see God’s strength.

Grant was our resident farmboy. He grew up in the cornfields of northwest Nebraska. He spent his early days living far from God. As Grant says, "I gave God the middle finger and didn't really care about faith at all." As a young man, he became convinced that God was real. He gave his life to Jesus and experienced God's amazing grace that previously made no sense to him. After experiencing that grace, Grant felt God calling him to teach the message of the gospel. Over the past 20 years, he has been preaching and teaching. Grant, his wife, Bethany, and their four children moved to Michigan in 2011, and he joined the 2|42 team in 2019. Grant is always good for a laugh, but more importantly, he explains biblical concepts in ways anyone can understand. We wish Grant and his family all the best as they start their new ministry adventures in Colorado in summer 2023.
