Three things I am going to quit in 2015
Most of us have learned to manage a certain degree of fear. We cope with anxiety. Worry is just a normal part of life. What if it were possible to quit? You read that right. Done. Over. Finito! No, the answer does not involve smoking pot or brown liquor.
In this series we dig deep into the source of all our worst fears. The Bible is filled with an overwhelming amount of verses on the topic.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Psalm 23:4
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Matthew 6:25
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
These are just the tip of the iceberg. In all of these passages, God is begging you to quit. Not to cope with, or manage fear but to be done.
