It seems that the Christmas spirit is at an all time high already this year! Stores are packed full of delightful decorations and Christmas shopping has already begun. Whether you are ready to jump into the holiday season festivities or you are looking for a good place to start after Thanksgiving, we have got you covered! Here are the top ten things to do in Ann Arbor this winter. 

  1. Visit the Ann Arbor Holiday Art Fair
    Featuring over 100 artists, 30 authors, make-and-take art, food trucks, and gifts, this is an event you will not want to miss. Starting on December 3rd from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

2. Get a Christmas tree from Braun’s Tree Farm
Grab your family and go and pick out the perfect Christmas tree from this charming family-owned tree farm. Not only will your house smell amazing, you will be supporting a local small business! 

3. Hear the sounds of Christmas at Holiday Pops
Holiday Pops is the annual concert put on by the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra at Hill Auditorium. On December 16th you can come and join this southeast Michigan tradition and enjoy beautiful arrangements of classic Christmas hits! 

4. Indulge in a delicious cup of Hot Cocoa from the Common Cup
Whether you enjoy a hot peppermint latte or just want to go back to a beloved childhood memory with a sweet cup of hot cocoa, the Common Cup has it all. Bring a book, grab a cup and enjoy a taste of holiday cheer! 

5. Join in on Ann Arbor’s Holiday season kick-off with downtown Midnight Madness
Come enjoy live music, illuminated streets, local business sales, and Christmas festivities on December 1st!

6. Public Ice Skating at Yost Arena
Lace up your skates for some affordable fun!

7. Kerrytown’s Kindlefest
On December 1st from 5:00-10:00 PM, come and hang out at a German-inspired Christkindlemart.

8. Watch a Christmas Classic at the Michigan theater
On Sundays, you can go and watch classic Christmas films like The Muppets Christmas Carol, The Polar Express, The Grinch and Home Alone for FREE! Reserve your ticket at https://michtheater.org/holidays 

9. Take a photo with Santa at the Briarwood Mall
Santa is expected to return to the Briarwood Mall by November 24 this year. Don’t miss your opportunity for a photo opportunity with the big man! 

10. Go and see Concordia University’s Boar’s Head Festival
Every year, students, faculty, and staff come together to celebrate the story of Christ’s birth in a medieval fashion through a moving spectacle. Enjoy dancing, singing, and even cookies as you watch in Concordia’s beautiful chapel.
