If you’re anything like me, my favorite time of the year is Christmas time! I love everything about it. From the lights, to the smells, to wrapping each gift, and all of the family activities and traditions that we have. If you’re in the Taylor area and need a few things to do, check out the list below.

  1. Jingle Bell Barn

Heritage park is always a fun time during the holidays and in December is no exception to the rule. The second weekend in December, the 9th and the 10th, Heritage Park is hosting their annual Jingle Bell Barn. There will be Santa and Mrs. Claus, hot coco, and over 90 animals! The cost is only $5 per person and kids under one are free.

  1. Winterfest Light Stroll

One of my personal favorite family traditions is going to see the different Christmas lights. At Heritage Park (again… I told you it was a hoping place), they are having a Winterfest Light Stroll, where you will be able to see all kinds of Christmas lights, famous characters, enjoy holiday decor displays, circus performers, a visit with Mr. & Mrs. Claus & more! It’s recommended to purchase tickets ahead of time to make sure that your family gets a time slot to come and enjoy. It is always a great time!

  1. LEGO Wednesdays

Now that Michigan has decided it’s winter time, sometimes it’s good to have an indoor activity. Head on over to the Bacon Memorial District Library in Wyandotte as they are having their Christmas themed Lego Wednesday! The library brings their stash of Legos into their Makers Space Room and you can make your own sugar cone trees or candy trees. You are welcome to play there or take one home. So much fun for kiddos (or adults) of all ages!

  1. Huron Christmas Tree Farm

We are a family that still loves a real Christmas tree in the house and it’s been a family tradition since I was a kid to go and pick one out together and bring it home. If you’d like the true Hallmark movie experience, head on over to the Huron Christmas Tree Farm. It is the perfect place to go and cut one down together as a family. Make sure to bring cash or your checkbook since the farm doesn’t have any electricity and cannot accept cards. Happy Hunting!

  1. Pet Photos with Santa

My two large pups are part of the family like anyone else and we love taking them to different places. Now they can get their own photo with the very own Santa! Take your pups, kitties, or maybe your own pet rock to get their professional photo on Sunday, December 11th from 11am-2pm. The event is taking place at the Southgate Historic Museum and all proceeds will go towards the Southgate Historical Foundation.

I hope that your family is able to be intentional this Christmas season and make lasting memories with everything you do this season. Merry Christmas!
