well hello how's everyone doing
0:03
there we go
0:05
well my name is misha i'm one of our
0:08
teaching pastors and i want to say happy
0:10
father's day to all the dads i also want
0:13
to say happy juneteenth today we get to
0:15
celebrate our dads and we get to
0:17
celebrate freedom from oppression
0:20
and tomorrow i get to celebrate one more
0:22
thing because on june 20th 2013 i joined
0:27
the staff here at 242 so it's been nine
0:30
years that i've been here you don't need
0:31
to clap
0:33
you don't want to go
0:34
for the first eight and a half of those
0:36
years i was a youth pastor here at our
0:38
brighton location but for the past six
0:41
months since january i've been one of
0:42
our teaching pastors and i've really
0:44
enjoyed the opportunity to to be able to
0:47
share god's heart through scripture and
0:49
and i'm excited i get to do that here
0:51
today i want to show you a picture of my
0:53
son because it's father's day this is me
0:56
and wilder he's three he's pretty
0:58
awesome i just i'll tell you what the
1:00
last three years being able to be this
1:02
kid's dad has been it's been truly
1:05
incredible
1:06
i want to share with you a story
1:09
um about
1:10
someone who changed the world for me to
1:14
start off getting into the message
1:16
it's a guy named scott scott was a
1:19
leader at the church i grew up attending
1:21
he was pretty quiet kept to himself most
1:24
of the time
1:25
and then when i was in high school in
1:27
one summer after church he came up to me
1:30
in the parking lot and he handed me this
1:32
bible
1:33
and he said i feel like god's telling me
1:35
to give this to you
1:37
and i think those are literally the
1:39
first words scott ever said to me so at
1:42
the time i was like okay weird but thank
1:45
you i don't know what to do with this
1:49
later that summer i thought hey maybe i
1:51
should open up that bible and read it
1:53
mostly as a way to like be able to go
1:55
back to scott and be like hey i'm using
1:56
the gift you gave me
1:58
but what i found when i opened the pages
2:00
of scripture that summer was just a love
2:02
for the words of life that i found and
2:04
and there was something that happened
2:06
that summer through reading this bible
2:08
that
2:09
it changed my life and scott didn't have
2:12
any clue what he
2:14
how much of a change he would it would
2:16
mean for me
2:17
when he gave me this he was just doing
2:19
what god told him to
2:20
do uh
2:22
15 years later
2:25
scott has moved to kansas and he's the
2:27
music director at a church out there
2:29
and i've started to do some ministry and
2:31
i got invited to be a speaker at a youth
2:33
retreat in kansas city missouri and when
2:36
i show up
2:37
scott's band is leading worship at that
2:40
retreat
2:41
and i just remember at the first session
2:43
going up holding that bible and thinking
2:46
and you you have no clue what you've
2:48
done to change my life through this gift
2:52
see i think sometimes when we think
2:53
about changing the world it seems like
2:54
this big huge goal like it's so beyond
2:58
our imagination that we don't even think
3:00
of it as something we should try to do
3:02
but when we think back on our lives we
3:04
can all pinpoint a moment or moments
3:07
where somebody did something said
3:09
something
3:10
gave us an opportunity
3:12
and it changed the world for us
3:15
for the next seven weeks we're going to
3:17
be looking at how jesus
3:19
changed the world
3:22
through his compassion for lost people
3:24
to the humility of the cross jesus
3:26
changed the entire world and he never
3:28
once held a political office
3:30
he never fought in a war he didn't even
3:32
leave the region of the world that he
3:33
was born into
3:37
we're going to dive deep into who jesus
3:39
is and what it means to respond to his
3:42
invitation
3:43
to follow him and what we'll discover
3:45
along the way is that jesus's primary
3:48
method of changing the world was
3:50
selflessly loving individual people
3:53
one
3:54
at a time
3:55
now today we're going to specifically
3:57
look at how jesus changed the world by
4:00
getting personal with people see jesus
4:02
was never worried that he couldn't get
4:04
personal with everyone he always chose
4:07
someone
4:09
and got personal with them
4:12
now i told you we were going to dive
4:13
deeper
4:14
uh let me explain what i mean by that
4:16
because oftentimes people come up to me
4:18
and say hey misha i want to go deeper in
4:20
my faith and it's caused me to to ask
4:22
like okay so what does that mean are we
4:24
talking like deeper in theological
4:27
understanding are we talking about like
4:28
deeper and spiritual practice deeper in
4:30
understanding the greek language and
4:32
architecture what are we talking about
4:35
well there's an author and speaker named
4:37
reggie joyner who actually wrote a book
4:39
called make it personal and he says this
4:42
he says sometimes we have a way of
4:44
making deeper just another version of
4:46
shallow in disguise what if deeper isn't
4:49
to be compared with more confusing
4:52
what if the alternative to shallow faith
4:54
is learning to be
4:55
personal he goes on to make some
4:57
statements
4:58
he says this he says
5:00
shallow is fast personal takes time
5:04
shallow is easy
5:06
personal is complicated
5:08
shallow is safe
5:10
personal is risky
5:12
shallow is certain personal is
5:15
unresolved shallow is dismissive
5:18
personal is interested
5:20
shallow is familiar personal is
5:23
unpredictable
5:24
shallow costs money
5:27
personal
5:28
costs me
5:30
think about your
5:31
deepest relationships they've probably
5:34
taken time
5:36
they're risky sometimes a little bit
5:38
unpredictable
5:39
and they've cost you more than money
5:42
i have a good friend named aaron
5:44
aaron and i have been friends for almost
5:46
a decade now aaron if you're watching
5:49
thanks for letting me share this
5:51
uh we both started in ministry around
5:53
the same time he was right out of
5:54
college i would just left another career
5:56
to come work here at 242 and we got to
5:58
know each other pretty well we were in
6:00
small group together we also took like
6:02
the last hour or two of each day to go
6:04
down to the student room and play video
6:05
games together
6:06
we got breakfast together often i mean
6:08
aaron and i have eaten so much mediocre
6:11
breakfast food we should both own some
6:12
stock in sausage patties okay we've done
6:16
jet skiing together go-karting laser tag
6:19
we did the polar plunge the ice bucket
6:22
challenge the harlem shake if it was an
6:24
internet meme around 2015 aaron and i
6:27
did that
6:28
we skipped work one time to go to a
6:30
tigers game because someone was giving
6:31
away tickets right behind home plate
6:34
and we got to see a brawl between the
6:36
tigers and the yankees it was awesome
6:40
aaron and i have shared snippets of our
6:42
lives but we've also shared the depths
6:44
of our hearts
6:47
and there's been times where we've felt
6:49
distant and we've grown apart from each
6:51
other but what's made that a deep and
6:53
enduring friendship is that sometime
6:56
early on
6:57
aaron got personal with me
7:00
he got me to open up and somehow and if
7:02
you know aaron you know this is the
7:04
miracle of the story somehow i got him
7:06
to open up
7:08
too
7:09
see when we think about our deepest
7:11
relationships they're all
7:13
personal
7:14
and then when we open up the bible and
7:16
we study jesus we discover that the way
7:18
that he modeled going deep was that he
7:20
got personal with people
7:22
one at a time i mean think about it he
7:25
he he touched people with diseases
7:28
he wept at the tomb of his friend
7:30
he played with toddlers
7:33
he washed his disciples
7:35
feet
7:36
and sure he was often surrounded by
7:38
crowds but jesus had this ability in the
7:41
midst of a crowd to like zero in on one
7:44
person
7:46
and what he did with the crowds gave
7:48
shape and organization to his mission
7:50
but what he did with individual people
7:52
mobilized a movement
7:54
a movement that is still changing this
7:56
world one life
7:58
at a time
8:00
so if we're gonna
8:01
follow jesus we all need to learn how to
8:04
get personal with someone
8:07
and some of you may be called to give
8:09
shape to a larger group of people but
8:11
we're all called to make jesus personal
8:14
for someone
8:15
and if we're going to get personal the
8:16
way jesus did we need to recognize the
8:18
way that he saw
8:20
the world
8:21
see jesus
8:22
had
8:24
it seems like he had this zoom lens on
8:26
life
8:28
he had this ability it seems to connect
8:31
with what god was doing on a grand scale
8:35
while also being able to focus in on
8:37
what he was doing in the lives of
8:39
individual people it actually makes me
8:42
think about birding is there anyone out
8:43
here who's a birder anyone into like
8:45
birding i mean
8:47
okay so few most of us i mean i get it
8:50
right like it's not a thing we usually
8:52
brag about but in 2021 birding kind of
8:55
took off because of because of uh social
8:57
distancing and you know binoculars were
9:00
like a hot item
9:01
but i actually got into birding long
9:04
before
9:05
it was cool back in 2009 i was uh
9:09
i joined the audubon society and i
9:11
actually also coached a team of third
9:13
grade birders
9:14
in science olympiad we were the
9:16
feathered friends that was our team okay
9:19
and and this is my birding scope and i
9:21
use this usually when i'm looking at a
9:23
large group of birds either out in a
9:25
field or out on a lake or along a
9:27
shoreline
9:28
and it's it's a common mistake for
9:30
people to see a large group of birds
9:32
maybe like a large group of goals on the
9:33
shore and to think that because they all
9:35
look the same it must mean they all
9:37
are the same
9:39
but as you start to zoom in you might
9:41
notice hey there's some there's some
9:42
herring goals there's some ring build
9:44
goals there's some turns in there
9:47
there's all these different species of
9:48
birds and if you zoom in further you
9:50
might start to notice some differences
9:52
even within a certain species and then
9:55
the cool thing about a scope like this
9:56
is you can zoom in on one bird in the
9:58
midst of a huge flock and you can start
10:01
to notice the nuanced differences that
10:03
give each bird it's like
10:05
unique identity
10:08
see when we study jesus
10:10
in the new testament it's as if he
10:12
had the ability to use a zoom lens
10:15
where he could step into a crowded room
10:18
or hillside or village
10:20
and he could just see the individual
10:22
stories of each person
10:25
that he looked at he could see past the
10:27
sin and the shame and he could see to
10:28
the nuanced differences
10:30
that he could recognize how each person
10:33
bears the image
10:35
of god
10:37
now one of my favorite uh stories like
10:39
this is the story of zacchaeus
10:41
it's it's brought to us in luke chapter
10:43
19 if you want to follow along this is
10:46
how luke starts telling the story
10:48
he says jesus entered jericho and was
10:51
passing through
10:53
all right let's zoom out what's going on
10:54
here
10:56
jesus is actually at this time on his
10:58
way to jerusalem where in less than two
11:00
weeks he's going to be arrested
11:02
and he's going to be killed
11:04
he's uh
11:05
he's he's here in jericho
11:08
and he's also just raised lazarus from
11:11
the dead and word's gotten out about
11:12
lazarus coming back from the dead people
11:14
are talking and people were already
11:16
curious about the things he had been
11:18
doing and teaching
11:19
but now his popularity has skyrocketed
11:22
so when he steps into jericho the
11:23
streets are aligned with crowds of
11:26
people
11:27
but jesus is
11:28
just passing through he has nothing on
11:31
his agenda there
11:33
well the man was there by the name of
11:34
zacchaeus he was a chief tax collector
11:37
and was wealthy
11:39
so in the crowds that followed jesus
11:41
there were
11:42
people of all ethnicities all
11:44
socioeconomic statuses and in this crowd
11:47
was a wealthy man named zacchaeus
11:50
and we're told that he's a tax collector
11:52
now tax collecting came with its
11:54
benefits mostly lots of money
11:57
but it also came with its downsides
11:59
which was that you were treated as a
12:01
sellout in the jewish community you were
12:04
treated as religiously unclean and you
12:06
weren't allowed to participate in jewish
12:09
society and it seems here that zacchaeus
12:12
is uh has has entrenched himself in this
12:15
system
12:16
he's made a business out of tax
12:19
collecting he's a manager of tax
12:20
collectors
12:21
well he wanted to see who jesus was but
12:24
because he was short he could not see
12:26
over the crowd so he ran ahead and
12:28
climbed a sycamore fig tree to see him
12:31
since jesus was coming that way
12:33
now zacchaeus wants to get a glimpse of
12:35
the man everyone's talking about so he
12:36
runs up he climbs
12:38
a tree
12:40
zacchaeus was probably not the only
12:42
person in a tree that day in fact he was
12:44
maybe not even the only person in that
12:46
tree that day this is what a sycamore
12:47
fig tree looks like
12:49
looks pretty easy to climb even if
12:50
you're shorter and it looks like a lot
12:53
of people could fit in that one tree and
12:55
there were so many people in the crowd
12:57
that day
12:58
that were hoping to get a glimpse of
12:59
jesus hoping that maybe just a sight of
13:02
jesus would change
13:04
their life would solve their issues
13:06
and look there were people with all
13:08
kinds of issues
13:09
in that crowd
13:10
health issues
13:12
marriage issues
13:13
financial issues probably some people
13:15
with some zacchaeus issues
13:18
many who had questions about what jesus
13:20
had been teaching
13:22
many hoping that just
13:24
a glimpse of the man who changed water
13:26
into wine and raised lazarus from the
13:28
dead maybe just some eye contact
13:30
would change the world for them well
13:34
here's where jesus's lens
13:35
starts to zoom in
13:37
when jesus reached the spot he looked up
13:39
and said to him zacchaeus come down
13:41
immediately i must stay at your house
13:42
today
13:44
so he came down at once
13:46
and welcomed him gladly
13:48
and this is where
13:49
jesus's lens
13:53
starts to zero in on on one
13:56
seen that entire town of jericho
13:59
jesus picked
14:01
zacchaeus
14:05
and it changed his entire life
14:09
but before we get to that i want you to
14:10
remember
14:12
jesus was just
14:14
passing through
14:15
there was nothing on his agenda in
14:17
jericho this interaction with zacchaeus
14:20
was an interruption to his schedule
14:23
oftentimes
14:25
when jesus met the needs of people it
14:27
was it was because his schedule had been
14:30
interrupted
14:32
but jesus was interruptable see he was
14:34
never too busy changing the entire world
14:37
that he missed out on the opportunity to
14:39
change the world for the person right in
14:41
front of him
14:44
and it begs the question
14:47
how interruptable are you
14:52
are you too busy
14:54
to get personal
14:57
with the one
15:01
who's someone that's
15:03
maybe up a tree getting a glimpse of
15:05
your life
15:08
a co-worker
15:10
a client
15:12
a friend
15:14
a sibling
15:17
your spouse
15:20
your kids
15:23
what might they see
15:26
someone too busy to notice them
15:30
someone too hurried to make eye contact
15:35
somebody interested but not available
15:40
who's someone that maybe needs you to
15:42
stop and look up
15:44
and get personal with them
15:47
see one thing i love about this story is
15:48
that kious didn't move he just stayed in
15:50
the tree
15:51
jesus
15:52
came to him he did this all the time
15:55
and sure the crowds would follow him and
15:56
people would approach him but jesus also
15:58
moved in the direction of people one at
16:01
a time jesus never he never assumed that
16:04
the people that were around him were
16:05
there by accident
16:08
see jesus chose to get close personally
16:11
with people who are already in close
16:12
proximity to him
16:16
who's someone that's in close proximity
16:18
to you on a regular basis that could
16:20
benefit from you getting close to them
16:23
personally
16:27
check out what happens
16:29
when jesus gets close well first first
16:32
when the people notice jesus getting
16:34
close to zacchaeus they get jealous
16:38
all the people saw this and began to
16:39
mutter he's gone to be the guest
16:42
of a sinner here's a word we don't use
16:44
much anymore mutter you know what mutter
16:45
is
16:46
it's what my grandpa does when he
16:48
watches baseball it's like tigers can't
16:50
score a run
16:52
they scored 14 yesterday grandpa so take
16:55
that
16:56
it's one time they had one good game
16:58
just happened to be last night
17:00
the people in the crowd cannot imagine
17:05
a scenario where jesus is talking with
17:07
zacchaeus like does he know what this
17:09
man has done
17:13
and i think if he's honest zacchaeus
17:15
probably struggled
17:17
with feeling like he was worthy of the
17:19
invitation jesus gave him that day too
17:22
and he knew how he had harmed the people
17:24
many of whom were in that crowd
17:27
and jesus did too
17:29
and he still chose to get personal with
17:31
him and in that moment jesus does
17:32
something for zacchaeus that he does for
17:34
each and every one of us
17:36
all that shame all that sin all that
17:38
guilt all that regret that makes us feel
17:40
like maybe god doesn't want to be near
17:43
me
17:43
jesus just steps right through all that
17:46
and he gets personal with us because he
17:49
loves us
17:52
now let's check out what happens
17:54
when jesus gets personal with zacchaeus
17:57
zacchaeus stood up and he said to the
17:58
lord look lord here now i give half of
18:00
my possessions to the poor and if i've
18:02
cheated anybody out of anything i will
18:03
pay back four times the amount
18:06
and jesus said to him today salvation
18:09
has come to this house
18:11
because this man too is the son of
18:13
abraham
18:14
for the son of man came to seek and to
18:16
save
18:17
the lost
18:20
and zacchaeus entire life has changed
18:23
he admits his sin
18:25
he repents
18:26
he goes from greedy to generous he
18:29
begins to align his life with the way of
18:31
jesus
18:33
and all those people that were muttering
18:34
a minute ago they're about to get a
18:36
stimulus check in the mail
18:38
from zacchaeus himself
18:41
all because jesus stopped
18:44
and got personal with him
18:47
and look for jesus he didn't even really
18:48
care if zacchaeus paid the money back
18:51
when when jesus got personal with
18:53
zacchaeus it was all about him
18:54
experiencing the love of god
18:58
he wanted zacchaeus to know more than
18:59
anything that despite what he had done
19:01
and despite who he'd become
19:04
that god loved him so much and wanted to
19:07
extend his generous grace to him and
19:09
when zacchaeus experiences the grace of
19:11
god it changed everything for him
19:16
and this is so important
19:18
because there are so many people that we
19:20
come in contact with every week every
19:22
day who don't know jesus
19:25
and in my experience in following christ
19:29
before people are are willing to
19:31
investigate jesus for themselves and
19:33
discover his love for them personally
19:35
what they do is they sort of climb
19:36
trees and they look at christians
19:40
and what they see and you and me will
19:41
determine if they're at all interested
19:43
in jesus
19:46
so when people look at christians
19:49
what do you think they see
19:53
people just passing through
19:56
people too hurried to make any eye
19:58
contact
20:00
people so consumed with their own agenda
20:02
that they can't even hear the
20:03
perspective of someone else
20:08
people who jump to judgment before
20:10
understanding
20:13
i mean what if what if
20:14
christians
20:16
started to get personal with people who
20:18
seemed far from god
20:22
what if we started to to ask people to
20:24
step down from the trees and get an
20:26
up-close view of what jesus is like
20:29
i'll tell you what maybe just maybe
20:33
we would see salvation come to their
20:35
house
20:36
as well
20:38
so let's do this church let's all start
20:41
with someone
20:43
let's do for someone maybe what we wish
20:46
we could do for everyone see jesus
20:49
didn't get personal with everyone in
20:51
jericho that day but he did get personal
20:53
with zacchaeus
20:55
who's someone that you could get
20:57
personal with in a way that shows that
20:58
they matter
21:00
to
21:00
god maybe this will help this uh this
21:04
scope here comes with this instruction
21:06
manual on how to use it
21:08
and so i kind of came up with a sort of
21:10
we'll call it an instruction manual on
21:13
how to use a zoom lens in life okay five
21:15
steps and then one overarching print
21:18
principle to pay attention to as we go
21:20
through all the steps okay it starts
21:22
with this identify someone
21:25
identify someone and identify them in a
21:27
way that communicates that they matter
21:29
to you how can you show someone that
21:30
they matter
21:32
and then
21:33
get to know
21:34
what matters to them in fact sometimes
21:37
when we get to know what matters to
21:38
someone else
21:39
that's what proves to them that they
21:41
matter to us so ask questions be curious
21:44
i mean
21:45
what are they like where are they from
21:47
what issues
21:49
are on their mind what difference do
21:51
they want to make in this world
21:54
and then understand start to understand
21:56
their everyday context
21:59
because when we do we can start to we
22:00
can start to
22:02
respond to them in a way that replaces
22:04
shame with
22:05
hope
22:07
when we do that we can we can begin to
22:10
believe in their potential to live a
22:12
remarkable story and when we believe in
22:14
their potential to live a remarkable
22:15
story we can speak to that potential and
22:18
then this whole time as you're going
22:20
through these steps
22:22
remember to look for an opportunity when
22:25
god opens a door
22:27
to share
22:28
jesus
22:31
i mean what if what if going deeper in
22:33
our faith
22:34
actually starts with getting personal
22:38
with someone that's what jesus modeled
22:40
that's what he did with zacchaeus
22:42
and it changed his world salvation came
22:45
to his house and that's what this is all
22:47
about we want to see salvation to come
22:49
to the house of people that may never
22:51
step into an auditorium like this but
22:53
they live in the crowds that surround
22:54
our lives
22:58
who might be someone like that
23:01
for you
23:03
see over the past almost decade joe
23:05
shared some numbers with you
23:07
we've seen hundreds and hundreds of
23:09
people
23:10
be baptized across our seven locations
23:13
many of them have happened in this very
23:15
room some have happened in lakes and
23:17
rivers
23:19
and each and every one of those stories
23:20
is precious and personal
23:25
i've seen friends baptized friends
23:28
husbands baptized wives parents baptized
23:30
kids
23:31
small group leaders baptized people in
23:33
their small group
23:35
co-workers baptized co-workers this past
23:37
mother's day i got to see a grandson
23:39
baptize
23:41
his grandma who he led to christ
23:46
many many of those stories are the
23:48
result of someone zooming in on one
23:52
and getting personal with them and
23:53
introducing them to jesus and then god's
23:55
holy spirit does a work in their life
23:57
that leads them to
23:58
salvation
24:02
look church we'll never know
24:05
what god may do through our willingness
24:07
to get personal with someone
24:09
until we get personal with someone
24:13
so you hand someone a bible
24:16
because that's what god told you to do
24:19
so you're willing to skip work let's go
24:21
to a tigers game because the weather's
24:23
nice but really because you want to take
24:25
some time to get to know someone
24:29
look church we're all one intentional
24:32
moment away from changing the world for
24:34
someone
24:36
by introducing them to jesus
24:41
so what's your next step
24:43
how can you move in the direction of
24:44
jesus by getting personal with someone
24:48
if you're someone that's already said
24:50
yes to jesus if you if you've trusted
24:52
jesus as your lord
24:54
then you just need to identify who that
24:56
person is
24:58
who's someone that maybe you're uniquely
25:00
positioned to bring the hope of jesus to
25:06
if you know who you know your next step
25:08
get personal with them
25:10
do something to get personal with
25:12
someone you're already in close
25:14
proximity with
25:17
if you don't know who then i'm gonna ask
25:19
you to pray this prayer
25:21
lord
25:22
give me your eyes
25:24
for the one
25:25
all series long we're gonna pray this
25:27
prayer until god shows us who
25:29
lord give me your eyes
25:32
for the one
25:34
today
25:36
your next step is a who
25:39
and for some of you
25:41
that who
25:42
is you
25:43
it's cute right because it rhymes you
25:45
and who okay
25:47
luke ends
25:49
his this story by quoting jesus saying
25:51
for the son of man came to seek and to
25:54
save the lost
25:57
and then less than two weeks later
26:00
two weeks after zacchaeus had salvation
26:02
come to his house jesus
26:05
would die on a roman cross as a
26:07
demonstration of god's love for all
26:09
people all time and as a way to make to
26:12
and to make a way for salvation to come
26:14
to all of our house
26:17
see for jesus
26:19
getting personal was was always about
26:22
seeking and saving the lost
26:26
so if you're here today and you're
26:27
searching for something
26:30
if you feel lost
26:33
then perhaps it's time for you to look
26:35
to jesus
26:37
get up a tree
26:39
see for yourself who he is what he
26:41
taught what he did
26:43
i'm confident that what you'll discover
26:45
will change
26:47
your world
26:48
you will discover that his love for you
26:50
is beyond comprehension and this entire
26:52
time he's actually been seeking you out
26:58
maybe today
26:59
is the day salvation comes to your house
27:04
maybe today is the day you say yes to
27:06
jesus
27:07
for the very first time
27:11
when people go down into the water of
27:12
baptism we ask them some questions
27:16
we ask them do you believe jesus is the
27:18
son of god who died on the cross to save
27:20
you from your sins
27:21
do you believe that he rose from the
27:23
dead to reconcile you to god and to and
27:26
to give you the hope of heaven
27:28
and when people go down into the water
27:29
that's what they're saying yes to
27:33
and then the rest of our lives is about
27:34
figuring out what it means to follow
27:36
jesus
27:39
if you've never said yes to jesus and
27:41
you're ready to today don't leave
27:43
without being baptized
27:47
and if you've already said yes to jesus
27:50
if you've already trusted him as lord of
27:52
your life
27:55
then i hope that the story of zacchaeus
27:57
is a reminder that jesus sought you
28:00
and he saved you
28:03
and if that's you i invite you to take
28:05
communion today
28:07
as a reminder of what jesus did for you
28:09
we offer communion to believers every
28:11
week
28:12
in order to help us remember what jesus
28:14
did on the cross as a reminder of the
28:17
day salvation came to our house
28:19
as a reminder that on the cross jesus
28:21
did something to get personal with each
28:23
and every one of us
28:26
communion is one way we remember that
28:28
his body was torn and his blood was shed
28:30
for the forgiveness of our sins
28:33
so as you talk to god about what or who
28:36
your next step is
28:38
maybe
28:39
maybe
28:40
communion will help you remember
28:42
what it costs jesus
28:45
we're going to enter into a time of
28:46
encounter
28:48
and during this time i'm just going to
28:50
ask you to pause
28:52
and pray
28:54
and talk to god about your specific next
28:57
step
28:58
and if your next step is is baptism i
29:01
i'd love for you to head over here
29:03
there's some people here that would love
29:04
to talk with you answer questions you
29:06
have you can go to the back there's some
29:07
some stations with some lights where
29:09
people would love to pray with you
29:12
if your next step is communion you can
29:13
take that in just a moment but i want
29:15
you before you move just just take a
29:18
moment
29:19
and talk to god
29:20
and wherever he leads you that's where i
29:23
want you to go
